Following the huge success of the 1st IFRC 2017 and the 2nd IFRC 2019, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), as the country’s forerunner institution in food and agriculture, is once again taking the initiative to organise the 3rd IFRC 2024.

AUTHOR’S GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT PREPARATION

Before submitting your abstract, carefully review and adhere to the guidelines provided below.

To submit your abstract, it is mandatory to register as a participant for the conference.

Abstract Requirements:

  • The abstract should be composed in British English and serve as an informative summary of the research work.
  • Font Type: Arial
  • Font Sizes:
    • Title: 14.0 point
    • Authors’ List: 12.0 point
    • Affiliations: 10.5 point
    • Corresponding Author’s Email: 10.5 point
    • Main Text of Abstract: 12.0 point
    • Keywords: 12.0 point
  • Single-line spacing is required, aligned left, except for the body of the abstract, which should be justified. Margins for left, right, top, and bottom should be 2.54 cm (1 inch).
  • All abstracts should follow the structured format; with the subheadings of Introduction, Methods, Results and Conclusion. Bold the subheadings.
  • The abstract should not exceed 300 words.
  • Expand any abbreviations or acronyms in their full term upon first use, unless they are standard units of measurement.
  • Exclude references in the abstract.
  • Include a maximum of 5 keywords aiding cross-indexing of the article.

AUTHOR’S GUIDELINES

ORAL PRESENTATION

Presentation Submission:
All presentation files must be uploaded to the designated laptop in the presentation room prior to the session. Presenters are required to arrive 10–15 minutes before the session begins to upload their slides and verify that the presentation runs properly.

Presentation Equipment:
Presentations will be delivered using the conference laptop provided in the room. A presentation remote (clicker) will be available for slide navigation during the session.

Presentation Duration:
Each presenter will be allocated a total of 15 minutes, which includes the presentation and the question-and-answer (Q&A) session. Presenters are encouraged to manage their time effectively, as the allocated time will be strictly enforced.

Use of Personal Devices:
To ensure smooth transitions between presenters and avoid technical disruptions, the use of personal laptops is not permitted.

Timekeeping:
A timekeeper will monitor the session and signal the remaining time using a bell;


  • One bell at 7 minutes – reminder to manage remaining presentation time.
  • Two bells at 10 minutes – indication to conclude the presentation and prepare for Q&A.
  • One bell at 15 minutes – end of the presentation and Q&A session.

POSTER – PHYSICAL

Poster Dimension: A1 (594 mm width x 1189 mm height), portrait orientation.

Title and Authors: Must be identical to those stated in the accepted abstract

Visual Clarity: Text size is readable from a distance of 5 feet

Presentation Session:

  • All poster presentations must be delivered in English.
  • At least one author must be present during the allocated poster judging session to present the work and respond to questions from judges and participants.
  • Posters must be displayed according to the assigned numbers provided during registration.

POSTER – VIRTUAL

Virtual Poster Submission

  • Only Electronic Posters (E-Posters) in PDF format will be accepted.
  • Printed posters or photographs of printed posters will NOT be accepted.
  • The poster should provide a clear visual presentation of your submitted abstract.
  • The virtual poster must be submitted before 18th July 2026.

Title of the Virtual Poster: It is recommended that the poster title match the submitted abstract. Minor modifications are allowed, as long as the original idea of the abstract is preserved.

Visual Poster Size and Format

Submit the poster in PDF format only. Recommended size: 720 × 1080 pixels (portrait orientation, 9:16 ratio), optimised for online viewing.

The poster should include the following sections:

  • Title, Authors, and Institution(s)
  • Abstract
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements
  • References

File Naming and Identification

  • Name the PDF file using IFRC ID and presenter name (e.g., 117-043 John D.).
  • Place the IFRC ID at the top right corner of the poster.
